University of West London Learning and Teaching Conference

June 20, 2011

The annual University Learning & Teaching Conference will take place next week on Tuesday 28th June. You have one day remaining to book a place – you can do this, and see all the details at http://www.uwl.ac.uk/instil/Events.jsp

The event this year is headed “Making teaching and learning relevant to students in the 21st century” and has a strong technology focus.

In particular there will be presentations from four external speakers on using technology in teaching and learning:

Student and staff experience of technology and pedagogy shift
Julie Hughes, School of Education, Wolverhampton University

Open Educational Resources: Why we should develop for student enquiry
Tarsem Singh Cooner, Centre of Excellence in Interdisciplinary Mental Health, Birmingham University

Electronic submission and marking: the benefits for students, staff and institutions
Cath Ellis, School of Music, Humanities and Media, University of Huddersfield

Engaged learning: effective use of technology inside and outside the classroom
Clive Holtham, City University London

I have heard most of these speakers before at events elsewhere and am very much looking forward to their contributions here.
